Books on my Shelf: Vaca Reads

I was on vacation in Aruba last week (the best!) and I was so happy to have so much time to read. Reading is one of my favorite things ever, especially on vacation.

I got to read so many great books and have some awesome recommendations for your summer reading list!

Here is exactly what I read, what I thought, in the order that I read them:

This was a great mystery and suspense read. I’ve read a ton of Lisa Scottoline books and loved them all. This one was different from her crime and mystery books because instead of being about a lawyer, it focuses on a judge. This took barely any time to really get into the story and was all around worth reading. Very suspenseful!

Sophie Kinsella’s books are always so funny. She has such an easy way of writing and telling a story that I can never put her books down. I loved the characters in this book and the story that developed around them. This book was a little bit predictable – but in a good way. You love what you know is going to happen next and can’t stop reading to ensure that it does. It’s that kind of story.

Wow. I loved this book. I was a little bit weary of it because it didn’t get amazing reviews on Good Reads. It was reviewed to be more…average. But, I think those reviews were oh-so-wrong. I loved this story and seriously could not put it down! I loved escaping to the Nantucket island where this book took place and getting lost in the minds of the characters. I really loved how it was set in all of their voices rather than just one characters. Definitely a fast paced book and a perfect summer read.

Nicholas Sparks always writes a good story and this is no exception. I will but a warning that this is an emotional read. It definitely had me going. I don’t want to give up too much – but have tissues nearby! Totally worth reading.

At first I was really skeptical about this book. The story line of it seemed really weird. But, I have to say it turned out to be an amazing tale. It was even educational and eye-opening. I loved the way the female took on a different and unique role in the novel and thought all of the characters and problems surrounding them were developed really well. This book did a great way of dealing with a real-world issue (that doesn’t get nearly enough attention) in a touching fictional light. I can’t wait to read more Kristin Hannah books!

What have been your favorite reads so far this summer?

The Best {Summer Playlist}

I am in full summer mode.

I may not be a little kid anymore, but who doesn’t love a little summer vaca? A little sun, sand, and relaxation? What girl doesn’t love kicking back with a good book and fruity cocktail in hand?  {I know I do}

Anyways, I have been loving my summer playlists. There are just so many great summer tunes out there that I cannot resist them, especially when the weather is nice and the sun is shining.

Here are my favorites summer beats. Sunglasses on, radio up…oh yeah, it’s summer.

5 Ways to Get Outside

Spring has sprung! It’s time to get outside and enjoy every minute of the perfect, sunny, crisp, cool, gorgeous weather!

Sometimes we need an excuse to get outside, and I totally get that. Here are five perfect ways to get outside and soak up the sun:

  1. Take a walk – walking relieves stress, burns fat, relaxes your mind, and…added bonus!…gets you outdoors! Go for it!
  2. Read – I love, love, love to read outside! Go outside with a great book and totally relax in the sun. This is probably the best outdoor activity!
  3. BBQ – what’s better than throwing a barbecue for you and your friends? Food, drinks, and time outside…what’s not to love?!
  4. Go for a hike – going on a hike is great exercise and also a perfect way to take your workout outdoors. You can also work out outside by going from a run or doing yoga in your yard or on your porch.
  5. Head to the beach – even though it may not be warm enough yet for a full-on beach day, you can still head down there for a picnic or take a walk and enjoy the fresh air.

It’s always good to break out of the indoors after a long winter and enjoy the change in seasons. Put on your flip flops and sunnies and enjoy the beautiful spring as much as you can!

Happy May!

Rabbit rabbit! Happy May!

It’s May and with that comes so many exciting things. It is also a time of a lot of change (and in a way, anxiety) for me. But, I am also looking forward to so many thing in this awesome month. Here is what I’m most excited for:

  1. Graduation! – so bittersweet, but definitely something to be celebrated!
  2. Being home – love my home, my family, the people that being home means I get to be with, and the memories made here. So, so excited for this!
  3. Summer apparel – goodbye jackets, scarves, and moccasins…hello Lilly, Jacks, and seer sucker!
  4. Enjoying the season – beautiful weather, beautiful flower, time on the boat under the sun…a tan on my skin. What’s not to love?
  5. Memorial Day – a great holiday filled with barbecues, American Flag baked goods (made by me!), friends, family, lots of fun, and all things America. In a word: perfect.

What are you looking forward to this month? Let’s make it a great one!

Preppy Product: Sweet Sunnies

The weather is finally getting nicer and it’s definitely time to break out your favorite pair of sunglasses.

Last week my mom and I were shopping and I got a super cute pair of Kate Spade New York ones. Here they are (I’m on the right!):

I love them! I think they’re totally cute.

There are so many sunglasses out there that are flat out adorable. Check out some of my current faves:

These are a must have summer accessory! Where do your favorite pair of sunnies come from?

Monday Getaway: Tropical Sister Trips

I feel like I haven’t spent a ton of time with my sister in forever. That is definitely something we’re not used to! She’s my best friend and I miss her so much.

This is definitely one of those times I wish we could just sneak off for a little getaway. We are both definitely beach babes – give us sand, the sun, the ocean, and a drink, and we’re all set. If only we could head off to one of these beautiful places right now…

We’re going to Aruba in July on a family vacation, so I guess we’ll have to wait until then! Oh well!

Preppy Product: MW Coastal

A staple of any preppy girl’s collection of things is all things nautical. If you’re looking for more nautical products (and really, who isn’t?) I’ve found the perfect company for you!

MW Coastal Goods has awesome stuff that you can’t help but L-O-V-E. They have unique products that you’ll use over and over again!

I love the bottle openers as they are so adorable. What a cute twist on a common product, right?! The monogram ones are to die for and who wouldn’t love the island collection?! I consider these a summer must-have.

Another thing I love about this company is that a husband and wife work together on the products. If that’s not true love, I don’t know what is!

Finally, this is a Connecticut based company! My state!

These make a great summer accessory and an awesome gift! They come wrapped up so beautifully!

Can’t wait to use mine all summer long!
